Discovering Beijing - Photo taken by Perennial Plate

Forbidden palace, Beijing

Day 1 Beijing

Rise early and join the locals on the street for a traditional breakfast, which could mean anything from rice porridge to salty, tea-soaked eggs or fermented tofu. Though don’t fill up too much; come afternoon you’ll be whipping up your own hutong delicacies in a cooking class.

Day 2 Beijing/Great Wall

You simply cannot visit Beijing without making a day trip to the Great Wall of China. Fuel up on a few dumplings in the city, then journey towards this two-thousand-year-old world wonder for a stroll along this ancient wall. Spend an afternoon walking up steep inclines towards the impressive watchtowers of this winding, brick serpent. In the evening, head back to the city for a little R&R. Allow your souls to be soothed during a reflexology foot massage and then indulge in a quintessential Beijing feast of succulent Peking duck.

Day 3 Beijing

With a new-found knowledge of Beijing’s food scene, this culinary exploration comes to an end. But fear not: with a little extra time, why not explore the city at your own pace to see the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and Summer Palace.
