Beijing City Break Itinerary

Arrive in China and be transferred from the airport to the hotel to prepare for the adventure ahead. A mix of high-rise buildings and ancient sites, Beijing city is one of the world's most fascinating places to explore. Perhaps spend free time today exploring the backstreet hutongs packed with tiny shops, eateries and locals going about their daily business.

With a local guide, set off to the Temple of Heaven Park to watch, or join, Beijing locals in tai chi, diablo, fan dancing and other traditional pastimes and games. Work up an appetite for a dumpling or noodle lunch before jumping aboard the subway to Tiananmen Square. Wander across the square, and then take a tour of the impressive Forbidden City to discover secrets and relics of the ancient Chinese dynasties who used to inhabit the sprawling city grounds. Why not end the day with a Peking duck dinner or, for something a little more daring, sample spiders and scorpions at the Night Market.

Enjoy free time to visit Beijing's many other incredible sights. Perhaps choose to visit the Bird's Nest and Olympic Park area, or head out to explore a section of China's famous Great Wall - an incredible feat of ancient engineering.
