Patagonia Trekking Itinerary
Day 1 Santiago
Set out in Chile's sultry Santiago and enjoy free time to indulge in the city’s cafe culture and art scene. Perhaps take a cable car up to Cerro San Cristobal - on a clear day the view is breathtakingly beautiful.
Day 2 Punta Arenas/Puerto Natales
After a flight to Punta Arenas, watch the Patagonian landscapes roll by on the bus journey to Puerto Natales.
Days 3-6 Torres del Paine National Park/W Hike
Hike Patagonia's famous W Trek through dramatic granite pillars, vast glaciers, sparkling lakes, gushing waterfalls and herds of wild guanacos in dramatic Chilean Patagonia. At the end of each day, camp in the arms of nature and marvel at the wonder of this remote corner of the world.
Days 7-8 El Calafate/Perito Moreno Glacier
Travel to El Calafate in Argentina to explore the awe-inspiring Perito Moreno Glacier. Admire the natural blue beauty of this imposing icy mass, one of the few glaciers that is advancing, not retreating. Photographers will enjoy capturing the epic scale and splendour of this gigantic glacier. Chunks of ice frequently break off and plummet into the water below, providing dramatic, memorable moments.
Days 9-10 Buenos Aires
Enjoy a final night in Argentina's sophisticated and seductive Buenos Aires. Sample local cuisine, revel in the passionate atmosphere and admire the European-inspired architecture. This is a city rich in culture and charisma so don’t miss out on the opportunity for indulgence. Hit the elegant boutiques and pick up a fashionable reminder of Argentina, or try and catch locals dancing the tango - the quintessential representation of Argentinean flair.

Patagonia Trekking, March 2014
Great overall experience with this tour. Physically challenging, scenicly beautiful and able to meet some great people both locals and the others in the tour group. Some recommendations/comments: 1. There's too much time spent in Calafate. Would have been better to leave earlier on the second day and spend that time in Buenos Aires instead. 2. Perito Moreno Glacier walk was an optional tour and it was a once in a lifetime experience. Everyone in the group decided to partake. Such an exceptional tour, I believe it should be added as part of the Itinerary. 3. Day 2 hike was 30 Kilometers long/ 18 miles!! It was too long and we had to break up the group into a slower (and less milage) and a faster group (to complete whole 30kms). The ones of us that did complete the 30 kilometers were hurting the next day. There is no need for a 30kms day hike!! I have hiked in many different places prior to this (everest base camp, kilimanjaro etc) and have to say no other hiking trip has hiked that much in any one day. When you take into account the terrain and elevation it was absolutely unnecessary. Might I add this was not stated on the itinerary as 30km - it was listed as 20km. Not sure if there were changes made on the ground on the day of but this was absolutely awful and made it hard to enjoy the day. This should either be shortened or split into 2 days. 4. We actually carried our heavy bags for a fair bit of the time - to and from camp site, to catamaran, to bus etc. Understand we were not hiking up a mountain summit and there were no porters but it should be explicitely stated that we are expected to carry our own bags and pack lightly and the appropriate types of bags (i.e. backpack) or there should be some assistance provided.

Patagonia Trekking, March 2014
It was really a tremendous experience. The amazing settings of the trip obviously contributed to this, but the group leader, Andres, really pulled it all together.
