Most travel is on public buses. The aim behind this is two-fold: to give you a taste of local life and a chance to interact with the local community, and to minimise the carbon footprint. In fact, you'll be pleasantly surprised to find most Turkish buses have Wi-Fi and serve coffee and cake!
You will need to carry your own bags to and from hotels, bus stops and train stations. So it's a good idea to travel light if you can.
You'll need your walking shoes, a hat, some sunscreen and a day pack to explore some of the historic sites. All site tours are guided, but you can wander at your own pace if you prefer.
The temperatures in April and October may be a bit cooler than you expect, especially in the evenings. So be sure to pack something warm to wear.
The facilities of your family guesthouse stay on Days 4 and 5 vary depending on the season. Sometimes triple-share accommodation is necessary here. There are always plenty of bathrooms for the group to use.
