This trip involves some long travel days. Simply sit back, relax, watch the scenery go by, and embrace travelling like a local.
Laos is less developed than many other South-East Asian countries. The roads can be bumpy, delays are common, and accommodation can be basic but always clean and comfortable. A little bit of patience will go a long way towards your enjoyment of this beautiful country!
One night is spent on the Mekong River in Pakbeng, a very remote and quiet town.
It can be quite cool from November to February, so make sure you have some warm gear packed for this period.
Due to dam construction upstream, water levels aren't as reliable as in previous years. When the Mekong River is at its lowest from February to April, part of the journey may occasionally need to be made by land.
A single supplement is available on this trip at time of booking please contact your sales agent if you would like to book a single supplement. The following days are excluded from the single supplement: Day 2 Overnight train and Day 6 Pakbeng

This trip is a wonderful way to explore Thailand and Laos. I recommend getting to Thailand early and spending a few days around the islands or Bangkok because your time there will pass very quickly and includes a lot of travel. The trip includes a nice balance between free time and structured time so do your research or ask your guides about what activities are fun in the areas you're staying. You will be visiting beautiful temples and holy sites so don't forget to bring plenty of clothing options that cover your shoulders and knees!

Our tour guide Jane was a star. This was the first time I had travelled in a group, I was traveling alone and was surprised at how comfortable that was. There was always plenty of time away from group activities if I needed it. Tip pay the extra for single supplement if traveling alone.
