Days 1-2 Manaus

Get acquainted with Manaus, a delightful port city, on an optional afternoon city tour. Pick up some supplies for the upcoming Amazon River cruise.

Days 3-7 Amazon River Ferry/Belem

Travel down jungle rivers on a five-day ferry journey through the mighty Amazon. Spot exotic wildlife, marvel at the wild landscape and simply be captivated by the Amazon's remote, seductive vibe.

Day 8 Alcantara

Wander through the streets of quaint Alcantara, admiring the calm colonial architecture.

Day 9 Sao Luis

Explore Sao Luis, a town steeped in a rich history that has seen it occupied by the French, Portuguese and Danish alike. Quality museums and and a strong presence of traditional folklore are the perfect match to the French fortress of Palacio dos Leoes. But as the sun goes down this town on the Bay of San Marcos really comes to life as the heart of reggae in north-east Brazil.

Days 10-11 Barreirinhas/Lencois Maranhenses NP/Parnaiba

Take an overnight 4x4 tour into stunning Lencois Maranhenses National Park.

Day 12 Parnaiba

Venture into the Parnaiba Delta, gently gliding through the water as the lush South American wilderness lines the banks. Keep an eye out for the bright, vibrant feathers of the native birdlife and the myriad of animals that trek to the waters every day.

Days 13-15 Jericoacoara

Go 4x4 dune bashing to reach the remote paradise of Jericoacoara. Unwind on the beautiful beach and travel further north to the serene seaside town of Canoa Quebrada, where a host of water-based activities will keep the adventurous traveller entertained.

Days 16-17 Canoa Quebrada

Pay a visit to the beachside town of Canoa Quebrada, that grows in popularity year after year thanks to a stunning landscape of giant dunes and deep red cliffs, all lining a a calm, blue-green ocean. The magnificent vistas have attracted film-makers from around the country but the vibe of the town remains relaxed and inviting. Perhaps take a dune buggy ride through the captivating surroundings or be even more adventurous and try kite-surfing or cliff gliding.

Day 18 Sousa

Visit prehistoric Sousa, world-famous for containing ancient footprints from over 50 types of animals including the mighty Stegosaurus and Allosaurus. Literally walk in the footsteps of the dinosaurs on a visit to the Vale dos Dinossaurus.

Day 19 Cabaceiras

Explore the Lajedo of Pai Mateus, a one-square kilometre rocky elevation, shaped as an inverse soup plate, over which 70 huge boulders are found scattered throughout an area once inhabited by early tribes.

Days 20-21 Olinda

Visit the monolith of Inga before soaking up the art and history of Olinda.

Day 22 Pirambu

Travel south enjoying the spectacular vistas of the rugged Brazilian coast, stopping to pitch a tent along the way.

Days 23-25 Salvador da Bahia

Discover cobbled streets and colourful buildings in historic Salvador. Brazil's original capital is world-renowned for food, music and hosting flamboyant festivals.

Days 26-28 Chapada Diamantina

Discover the unique landscape, flora and fauna of Chapada Diamantina National Park on a guided expedition. Take the chance to go trekking through the beautiful landscape inside the park.

Days 29-30 Terra Ronca/Cavalcante

Explore the vast and mysterious cave system at Terra Ronca on a guided tour. Visit a local community at Kalunga.

Days 31-33 Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park

Drive to Chapada dos Veadeiros for exploration and adventure in this magnificent national park, famous for its large quantities of quartz crystal in the soil. Stop to admire the many spectacular waterfalls flowing into the River Preto.

Days 34-35 Brasilia

Take a city tour of Brasilia - the futuristic, Oscar Niemeyer designed capital which is a feat of modern design and architectural ingenuity. Don't miss the chance to visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, shaped in a crown of thorns with angels suspended from the ceiling or perhaps head up to the television tower to take in views of Brasilia.

Day 36 Bush Camp

Travel through the ever-changing landscape of Brazil's countryside and set up camp in remote woodlands.

Days 37-38 Ouro Preto

Journey onwards to the colonial town of Ouro Preto. Stroll the tangle of narrow streets and see churches featuring the work of Aleijadinho - Brazil's most famous sculptor.

Day 39 Teresopolis

Journey south through the Brazilian countryside and watch as the rocky landscape rolls by. Camp under the night sky in Terasopolis.

Day 40 Rio de Janeiro

Nestled between Guanabara Bay and lush mountains, Rio de Janeiro's allure is intoxicating. Catch a live music show in Santa Teresa, join a favela tour, visit the lush Jardim Botanico or watch the sunset at Ipanema beach - with a refreshing agua de coco (coconut water) in hand. A night on the tiles experiencing Rio's acclaimed nightlife is a great way to cap off the tour!
