Day 1 Rio de Janeiro
Arrive in Rio and get swept up in the charisma of this vibrant Brazilian city

Days 2-3 Ouro Preto
Explore the colonial mining town of Ouro Preto, where old-world baroque churches and wood and soapstone architecture create an enchanting atmosphere.

Travel through towns, villages and the unique Brazilian countryside, before setting up camp near Tres Marias and sleeping under the stars.

Day 5 Cavalcante
Stay with the rarely visited Kalunga people, said to be the descendants of runaway slaves, and spend the night camping on their lands.

Travelling through central Brazil, there are plenty of sights to be seen along this stretch of the trip, which is taken slowly to soak up the surrounds.

Arrive in Pocone, a small town that is the base for exploring the beautiful Pantanal.

Days 13-15 Pantanal
Explore the vast, wildlife-filled wetlands of Central Brazil from a ranch base. Take boats and canoes to move through the waterways of this exceptional part of Brazil.

Days 16-19 West Brazil Bush Camp
Journey to this rarely visited part of central Brazil via Rio Branco and Porto Velho – the latter of which is a gold-rush town with a few gold shops still doing business.

Day 20 Puerto Maldonado
Cross the Rio Acre into Peru and stay in Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to the Amazon.

Days 21-22 Amazon Lodge
Travel to the Posada Amazonas lodge and be immersed in the dense expanses of forest surrounding the area. Keep an eye out for toucans, parrots and macaws flying against the horizon and search for giant river otters and other lakeside wildlife while sailing around the Tres Chimbadas Lake on a catamaran.

Days 23-24 Cuzco
Make tracks to Cuzco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire. Explore the majestic main plaza before wandering cobbled streets or learning more about Peru’s history and grandeur in the city’s many museums.
