Okavango Experience Itinerary

Begin the journey in Johannesburg, the commercial centre of South Africa and a sprawling city of green parks, towering skyscrapers, gracious mansions and lively townships. Those who arrive early may want to visit the historic township of Soweto or the Apartheid Museum to learn more about South Africa's history.

Cross the border into Botswana to witness the success of the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. This inspirational conservation project was once a hunting area and is now a haven for endangered black and white rhinos. A game drive at dusk may reveal rhinos, wildebeest, zebras and giraffes.

Head north towards Maun, gateway to Botswana's famous delta.

This famous waterway is formed by the Okavango River fanning out into an intricate maze of streams, creating 16,000 sq km of wetlands. With the help of a friendly local, traverse the delta in a mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe. Camp under the stars in the remote wilderness and rise early for a sunrise walk. Stay alert and try to catch a glimpse of elephants and cape buffalo.
