Itinerary

Begin the journey in Johannesburg, the commercial centre of South Africa and a sprawling city of green parks, towering skyscrapers, gracious mansions and lively townships. Those who arrive early may want to visit the historic township of Soweto or the Apartheid Museum to learn more about South Africa's history.
Cross the border into Botswana to witness the success of the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. This inspirational conservation project was once a hunting area and is now a haven for endangered black and white rhinos. A game drive at dusk may reveal rhinos, wildebeest, zebras and giraffes.
Head north towards Maun, gateway to Botswana's famous delta.
This famous waterway is formed by the Okavango River fanning out into an intricate maze of streams, creating 16,000 sq km of wetlands. With the help of a friendly local, traverse the delta in a mokoro, a traditional dugout canoe. Camp under the stars in the remote wilderness and rise early for a sunrise walk. Stay alert and try to catch a glimpse of elephants and cape buffalo.
Visit a rural village to learn firsthand about the local way of life before returning to Maun.
Venture to the plains and waterways of Chobe National Park for a relaxing water safari. Try to spot elephants and hippos bathing and African fish eagles circling overhead.
Admire the incredible torrent of white water at Victoria Falls, where spray shoots hundreds of metres into the air. Explore the falls more closely or perhaps try some of the adventure activities on offer such as whitewater rafting, bungee jumping, abseiling and canyoning.
Once a royal hunting ground, Hwange National Park is home to approximately 400 bird and 100 mammal species. Set out on a 4x4 game drive through the plains and wetlands.
Explore the country's second largest city before setting out in search of black and white rhinos in Matobo National Park.
Camp on the edge of the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans.
Head towards Blouberg and camp in South Africa's Limpopo Province, an area that offers a unique cultural experience. Meet villagers and enjoy an authentic local meal at a village tavern.
Arrive back in Johannesburg and perhaps use free time to purchase some souvenirs or relax in a local bar or cafe, but not before taking in some spectacular views from the lookout over the Blyde River Canyon.
