Days 5-6 Central Kalahari

Meet the original inhabitants of this semidesert environment and learn about their hunter-gatherer lifestyle. Visit the ancient riverbed of Deception Valley, which remains a great year-round gathering place for wild animals.

Days 7-8 Gweta/Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

Admire the unusual baobab tree, many of which have stood for thousands of years. With their branches looking more like roots, it’ll soon be clear why they are nicknamed ‘upside down trees’. Visit Nata Bird Sanctuary, a haven for over 160 water-loving birds including ostriches and pelicans, and head on to explore the vast Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. Spot the migrating wildebeest and zebra visiting the remains of this ancient inland lake and look out for the fossilised relics, which show how vital this waterhole has been to the survival of local wildlife for millennia.

Days 9-10 Chobe National Park

Embark on exciting jeep safaris in search of the huge concentrations of elephants who call this park home. Packed with heaps of game, keep eyes peeled for sable antelope, hyena, giraffe and the park’s big cats. Later on, look out for crocodiles and thirsty elephants on a relaxing evening boat cruise along the Chobe River.

Days 11-13 Victoria Falls

Cross into Zimbabwe and behold breathtaking Victoria Falls. Be captivated by the thunder of this mighty waterfall, and soak up its jaw-dropping beauty while exploring the surrounding rainforest on guided walks. Families with an intrepid streak may choose to appreciate the grandeur of one of the seven natural wonders of the world from higher up on a helicopter flight. A wonderfully dramatic end to a wildly memorable holiday.
