Bolivia Highlights Itinerary
Days 1-2 La Paz
Acclimatise to the clear mountain air of lofty La Paz – one of the world's highest cities – exploring the myriad alleys and street stalls of this sprawling crater turned city. If the undulating laneways and local hustle and bustle get too much, why not hop on a local bus and make for the surreal solitude of the Valle de la Luna's rocky landscapes.

Days 3-6 Uyuni/Salar de Uyuni
Explore the strange and stunning landscapes of the Salar de Uyuni by 4x4. Infinite blue skies meet endless white salt on what was once a prehistoric lake, making for plenty of fun and fantastical photo opportunities. Continue on to Laguna Colorado – a shallow salt lake of magnificent red hues dotted by bright pink flamingos.

Days 7-8 Potosi
Learn about the bleak past of what was once the world's richest city on an optional excursion into a mine – a fascinating experience.

Days 9-10 Sucre
Travel to Sucre and wander amid the whitewashed colonial buildings and quaint city plazas of Bolivia's capital. Adrenaline junkies can take to the surrounding peaks for some excellent mountain biking options or perhaps give hang gliding a shot.

Days 11-12 La Paz
Return to La Paz by plane. Use free time to get to know a different side of the city at the Mercado de Hechiceria (Witches' Market) – a place brimming with unusual trinkets and curious sights. Locals visit here for herbs, folk remedies and fortune-telling services. Keep an eye out for yatiri (witch doctors) who circulate throughout the market. Opt to finish the trip with a farewell group dinner, a great opportunity to say goodbye to new friends and share memories of the trip.

Bolivia Highlights, June 2014
overall I'm sure Fredy is a good bloke, but think he was a bit overwhelmed by the 'group'. I think it would have helped if all group had been present at group meeting - half the group arrived in hotel 5 mins before meeting and didn't bother joining in because they were already a 'group' (GGSUC). Encouraging /insisting them to attend may have been helpful to set the tone of the tour. There was no updated itinerary at the meeting and in fact it was not available until half way into tour, and only after several requests. Initial communication from Fredy was fractured. He didn't address the whole group and it became problematic because plans were not dicsussed and agreed by whole group, so misunderstandings ensued. It was only after insistence at Potosi that changed. I was surprised on day 2 that Fredy borrowed money off a group member to cover bus and entry to Moon Valley for the group. I don't fully understand why, but on day 2 of our Salar 3 days, Fredy told us we would have to pay National Park fees and he would reimburse us on return to Uyuni. The evening before we left Uyuni I had made a point of checking with him that we would need no money for 3 days, and because I was told that was the case I did not withdraw funds from ATM. and several of us did not have money to pay the fees. We were delayed flying from Sucre to La Paz for over 5 hours, ostensibly due to cloud, and for a couple of hours we were unable to find Fredy in the airport to clarify our position.

Bolivia Highlights, May 2014
Loved the Salt flats but could have left going Potosi and Sucre. There would need to be an activity in these 2 places. Due to safety the mines are no longer recommended in Potosi. There needs to be some activity to make this place relevant ie cooking class or home stay visit. Same with Sucre even though it was a city where you could do more things. You could add a trip to the Amazon like what we did in Peru.
