Day 1 Alice Springs/Kata Tjuta/Uluru

A tiny town in the centre of a vast desert, Alice Springs makes for a fitting welcome to Australia's iconic Red Centre. Why not get the adventure underway with camel ride at the Outback Camel Farm before heading out across the country's sunburnt plains to Uluru (Ayers Rock). After lunch, stretch the legs on a guided Valley of the Winds hike through Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), then settle back to an outstanding desert sunset over ancient Uluru.

Day 2 Uluru/Kings Canyon

Wake early to watch the rising sun bathe the world's biggest rock in colour. Gain a deeper appreciation of Uluru's significance to the local indigenous culture on a cultural interpretive walk with an Aboriginal guide. Drop into the Aboriginal Cultural Centre to admire traditional indigenous arts and crafts before heading on to our exclusive campsite in Watarrka National Park.

Day 3 Kings Canyon/Alice Springs

Kick off the day with a hike along the rocky ridges and dramatic outcrops of Kings Canyon. Take in the Amphitheatre, the Lost City, the Garden of Eden and North and South Walls before returning to Alice Springs for the night.

Day 5 Alice Springs/Devils Marbles (Karlu Karlu)/Daly Waters

Head north, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn, to the sacred site of Karlu Karlu (Devils Marbles). Stopping off for lunch at Tennant Creek, we then continue on to the one pub town of Daly Waters – our resting place for the night.

Day 6 Katherine Gorge/Darwin

Make tracks to Nitmiluk National Park. Embark on a short hike up to Baruwei Lookout for exceptional views out over Katherine Gorge, then stop in for a quick dip at Edith Falls before making the remainder of the journey to Darwin.

Day 7 Darwin/Litchfield/Mary River

Visit Litchfield National Park and escape the heat in refreshing swimming holes. Head east and meet the Limilngan-Wulna people, traditional owners of the land, and learn about their culture and traditions. Wind down the day with a cruise along the Mary River Wetlands, where the local crocodiles are often kind enough to join us.

Day 8 Mary River/Kakadu

Admire the ancient Aboriginal rock paintings of Ubirr, which are thousands of years old. Ascend the Nardab Floodplain for astonishing views over East Alligator River, then reward your efforts with a splash in the plunge pools of Maguk (Barramundi Gorge).

Day 9 Kakadu/Darwin

Venture into Kakadu National Park, arguably the Northern Territory's premier National Park. Size up the towering Jim Jim Falls, perhaps taking a dip at its base, then continue on to Twin Falls for the chance to explore this spectacular gorge by boat. Tackle the 4x4 track back to Darwin, where this remarkable wilderness adventure comes to an end.
