The outback town of Alice Springs is a travel hub for visitors setting off to the explore the sensational range of natural wonders the Red Centre has to offer. An iconic image of outback Australia and a sacred site for the local Aboriginal people, Uluru's remarkable colour changes are a wonder to behold.
The ancient rock formations of Kata Tjuta (also known as The Olgas) create an amazing landscape of spectacular domes and canyons.
The towering sandstone walls of Kings Canyon command breathtaking views of the gorge below and the surrounding desert landscape. A small community of the Western Aranda people, Wallace Rockhole offers a fascinating opportunity to view Aboriginal rock art and learn about traditional indigenous culture.
With highlights including Ormiston Gorge and Palm Valley, the beautiful natural surrounds of the Western MacDonnell Ranges are home to walking trails, waterholes and rock wallabies. Located 1500km from the nearest major city, Alice Springs may be isolated but it still boasts decent restaurants, fascinating Aboriginal art galleries and a lively nightlife.
