4 Day Red Centre Safari, May 2014
The tours before the Ghan train trip and also after were generally excellent. However, when another traveller and I arrived at the station to get on the train, we were told we each owed an additional US$1500! A disaster was averted only because I fortunately tucked into my suitcase a print-out of what I had paid you, and the Ghan trip was singled out. If I hadn't had that with me, I don't know what would have happened, but it wouldn't have been pretty. This was a very BAD communication glitch. In addition, no one picked us up at the designated hotel to take us to the station. My fellow traveller and I had to pay for a taxi. AND, once we began camping in Litchfield and Kakadu, there was another glitch in that our guide had not been told that we needed sheets and towels. Fortunately on this occasion, my fellow traveller had the paperwork to prove that we had paid for that service. These rather distressing events should not have happened, especially the scene at the railway station.
