Merchandising is used to manage and promote campaign across the website. Using the merchandising function you can add a variety of content to support campaigns like:
- Sales (e.g. tactical campaigns like 20% off Asia)
- Promotions (e.g. Qantas)
- Competitions
- Notification
- Homepage banner
Creating a new merchandising item
- Go to Content > IG Merchandising > Create Merchandising
- Add your Merchandising Settings:
- Campaign name - "Region (if applicable) - Campaign Title". Eg. EMEA - 25% off USA trips
- Type - sale, promotion, competition, notification, homepage banner
- Landing page URL
- Add the active dates for the campaign: If your campaign is starting/ending on a specific date you can set the active date. Note the times are set to UTC so you may need to update the timezone for your region.
- Select the relevant regions for the campaign to be published to. Select all if to be displayed across all regional websites.
- Add further detail based upon type below.
- Save.
Sale
The sale merchandising type is used to add:
- Inline campaign content on search results, destination pages and trip pages
- Deals menu
- Homepage notification (if required)
- Deals page tiles/homepage carousel

To add sale details:
- Set your merchandsing type to sale
- Add your heading. This will display as:
- The heading on the inline merchandising (reference a)
- Travel Deals menu copy
- Notification bar copy
- Tiles copy
- Tips: Keep as succinct and short as possible or best UX display in travel deals menu (limit 36 characters/spaces).
- Product or Country should always be capitalised.
- Add your description. Display:
- The description on the inline merchandising (reference b)
- Tips: Use HTML links to allow for click through on inline sale merchandising. To place a link in merchandising use the following code template <a href="/au/URL" target="_blank">"linked text to display" ></a> For example: <a href="/au/adventure-cruising-sale" target="_blank">Find out more ></a>
- The description on the inline merchandising (reference b)
- Add your Call to action (CTA) - the link copy on the notification bar and tiles
- Note: Your notification bar, menu items and tiles will link to what you have set as the landing page URL
- Tips: use language to promote click through eg. "Book now"
- Push to homepage
- Activate this checkbox if you want to have your campaign show on the homepage as a notification bar
- Image
- This will pull to the home page carousel and deals page as a tile
- Terms and conditions
- These will show in the modal that pops up when you click on the Ts and Cs link on the inline merchandising (reference c)
- Tips: Consider using some code to link from your Ts and Cs or to style them to improve display;
- Bold: <strong>Bold text</strong>
- Italics: <em>Italics text</em>
- Underlined: <ins>Underlined text</ins>
- Small text: <sub>small text</sub>

- Included URL - pages you want the inline merchandising to display on
- Enter a * in this field, inline merchandising will be added to all pages. "destination/*" will add to all trip pages with this country in the URL of these trips. eg. vietnam/*
- Destination page - add destination page URL as a separate item to also display on this page eg. vietnam.
- Add as many additional items as required
- Excluded URL - pages you don't want the inline merchandising to display on. You can specify excluded product URLs, themes and regions in the case of site wide promotions so that customers do not see a promotion on product it is not available on.
- Inlcuded trip codes - specific trips you want inline merchandising to display on.
- Excluded trip codes - specific trips you do not want inline merchandising to display on.
- Included search terms - Add key search terms to display inline merchandising on the search results relevant to these terms. Example: sailing. (Merchandising will appear in search results underneath first trip result).
- Themes - Choose a theme or themes from the list if you wish show sale information on trip pages for products with a particular theme or set of themes.

Promotion
The promotion merchandising type is used to add:
- Promotion messaging on trip and destination pages (note this excludes Theme pages)
- Travel deals menu
- Homepage notification (if required)
- Deals page tiles/homepage carousel
To add promotion details:
- Set your merchandising type to promotion
- Add your description. This will display as:
- The text in the inline merchandising
- Deals menu copy
- Notification bar copy
- Tiles copy
- Add your CTA - the link copy on the notification bar, tiles and inline merch
- Note: These will all link to what you have set as the landing page URL
- Push to homepage
- Activate this checkbox if you want to have your campaign show on the homepage as a notification bar
- Tile Image
- This will appear on the home page carousel and deals page as a tile
- Inline Image
- This will display to the left of the inline merchandising

- Included URL - pages you want the inline merchandising to display on

Competiton
The competition merchandising type is used to add competition content to:
- Deals menu
- Homepage notification (if required)
- Deals page tiles/homepage carousel
To add competition details:
- Set your merchandising type to competition
- Add your heading. This will display as:
- Deals menu copy
- Notification bar copy
- Tiles copy
- Add your CTA - the link copy on the notification bar and tiles
- Note: These will all link to what you have set as the landing page URL
- Push to homepage
- Activate this checkbox if you want to have your campaign show on the homepage as a notification bar
- Tile Image
- This will pull to the home page carousel and deals page as a tile
Notification
The notification merchandising type is used to add content to the notification bar only. This can be used for merchandising, however it can also be used for Emergency notifications, eg. Nepal Earthquake
To add notification details:
- Set your merchandising type as notification
- Add Description. This will display as notification copy only (Example 1). Follow with hypen to separate text from call to action.
- Add CTA. This will display as link adjacent to description (Example: Description - Call To Action >).
- Check Emergency notification. For use in emergencies only, to be applied by Product team or PR. The emergency bar will display with an exclamation mark (Example 2).
- Emergency notificaton bar will override any other notifications regardless of weighting.

- Excluded URL - pages you don't want the inline merchandising to display on
- Inlcuded trip codes - specific trips you want inline merchandising to display on

Emergency Notification Example
Homepage Banner
The homepage banner merchandising type can be used in conjunction with large regional campaigns. An appropriate image can be added to the homepage and linked to the the promotion page.
To add homepage banner details:
- Set merchandising type as homepage banner.
- Banner image: Upload appropriately sized banner image. Ideally it is selected to tie in with campaign theme or destination.
Managing your merchandising
The merchandising overview page can be accessed via Content> IG Merchandising
On this page you will see a list of all merchandising. You can also filter merchandising by:
- Search by campaign name: keywords
- Filter by:
- Region
- Type
- Status:
- Pending - created but not live yet
- Active - currently visible on site
- Expired - no longer showing
Weighting
This allows you to set the priority order you would like your merchandising to display in. Weighting will affect:
Using weighting
- To access weighting click on the Weighting tab at the top of the merchandising summary page.
- To update the order/weighting of a campaign click and hold the cross icon to the left of the campaign name and drag and drop higher or lower in the list
- Important notes:
- The weighting page will only display merchandising that has a status of Live or Pending
- There is no other filtering on the weighting page and all regions campaigns will display here
- Please be careful not to adjust other regions campaign weights
- Items higher up the list will display over something lower in the list
- Once you have adjusted your weighting order, save your changes
