Before the adventure begins, why not tuck into a pad thai at a local street stall or relax with a traditional Thai massage. Then it's time to escape the city heat with a cruise along Chao Phraya River and a visit to the impressive reclining Buddha.
After an overnight train from Bangkok to Surat Thani, travel into the verdant Khao Sok National Park. Spend a night in a rustic hut amid ancient gnarled rainforest trees. Explore this dense and mysterious jungle on foot before cooling off underneath a waterfall.
Sit back and enjoy a local bus ride to Krabi province. Upon arriving at a village homestay, take a walk through the surrounding area and enjoy fine local food and hospitality. This is a wonderful opportunity to absorb some of the daily rituals of Thai culture.
Sun-seekers will fall in love with Krabi's unspoilt beaches; the spectacular limestone cliffs will tempt avid rock climbers, while scuba fans can embark on a Krabi diving adventure.
Take a rickshaw tour through the streets of Georgetown, visiting Fort Cornwallis and Kek Lok Si temple.
Absorb the multicultural mix that is Kuala Lumpur on a half-day city tour. In free time, stroll Dataran Merdeka, shop in Suria KLCC or scale the 272 steps up to the Batu Caves. Be sure to indulge in the myriad tasty food options Kuala Lumpur is famous for.
Get to know the historic port city of Melaka, and admire Chinatown's unique Peranakan architecture from the back of a trishaw.
Arrive in Singapore where the journey ends. While here, why not sip a Singapore Sling in the Raffles Hotel, where the famous drink was invented, or seek out a bargain on Orchard Road.
If arriving early in Jakarta, perhaps get acclimatised on a walk through the old town of Kota or head to the National Museum of Indonesia for a slice of history.
Climb aboard a train to Bandung, a bustling regional city in the heart of West Java. Enjoy a guided city tour and take in a Angklung performance in the evening
Travel south-east through many small towns and villages heading towards the lush Indonesian coast. Glide between the impressive caves of the Green Canyon and take a dip in the turquoise water before heading to Pangandaran.
Travel inland to Yogyakarta, a fascinating place that still embodies many practices of traditional Indonesian culture, despite becoming increasingly modernised. See the first rays of daylight break over Borobudur Temple and watch them disappear behind Prambanan Temple at sunset.
Get back to nature in Seloliman Reserve, on the slopes of Penanggungan volcano. Feast on fresh organic fare at the Environmental Education Centre and learn about the inspiring work being done by volunteers here.
Discover secrets of traditional Javanese medicine on a morning hike. Meet friendly locals and perk up with a pot of freshly brewed coffee. Hit the road bound for the cultivated landscapes of the Tengger Valley.
Rise before dawn to begin the trek up Mt Bromo. The sight of this steaming volcanic landscape bathed in morning light is about as good as it gets.
Make tracks to the beautiful coast of Bali and soak up a peaceful sunset on the steps of Tanah Lot temple.
Arrive in the quaint, leafy paradise of Ubud. With a vibrant local arts scene, bustling market place, cheeky monkey forest and lush rice paddies dotted among villages, Ubud is the ideal place to wrap up this Indonesian adventure.
