    The Quito-Lima international flight on day 10 is not included in the price. Inca Trail permits are sold on request basis only. Once deposit is paid and passport details provided, Intrepid will endeavour to secure a permit for you. If Inca Trail permits are unavailable by the time you book, you can opt to hike the Inca Quarry Trail instead. The Inca Trail closes in February to allow cleaning and restoration works. If the trek portion of your trip starts in February you will be automatically booked to hike the Inca Quarry Trail. Should you choose not to hike at all, please let us know in writing at the time of booking so alternative arrangements can be made. Without this prior warning, local fees may apply. Day 1 Quito

Quito is a cultured city with a wonderous Old Town, a dynamic nightlife and atmospheric streets showcasing Ecuadorian life in all its splendour.

Days 2-3 Isla San Cristobal

The eastern-most island in the Galapagos, a variety of seabirds nest on Isla San Cristobal, including blue-footed boobies, red-footed boobies and frigates.

Days 4-6 Isla Floreana/Isla Isabela

A highlight of any Galapagos cruise, Isla Floreana is rich in natural wonders and wildlife, including seabirds such as boobies, pelicans and frigates. Discover the quirky maritime history of Post Office Bay. The largest island in the archipelago, Isla Isabela was formed by five giant volcanic craters, all of which are still considered active.

Days 7-8 Isla Santa Cruz

Isla Santa Cruz is home to the Charles Darwin Research Station The station's visitor centre and museum are essential stops for anyone interested in the archipelago's natural and human history, and keen to learn more about conservation efforts to preserve the unique ecosystems of the Galapagos. It also offers visitors their best chance for close-up encounters with giant tortoises.

Day 9 Quito

Stretched out along a central Andean valley under the gaze of Volcan Pichincha, Quito is one of the most attractive cities in South America.

Day 10 Lima

Travel to Peru's oceanside capital, Lima. With churches, palaces and ornate colonial mansions, this is the perfect city to explore by foot.

Day 11 Cuzco

Cuzco is the gateway to Machu Picchu and a city with majestic architecture, impressive ruins, a lively town centre and cultural significance around every cobblestone corner.

Day 12 Sacred Valley/Ollantaytambo

The Sacred Valley was once the heartland of the Inca Empire and now contains picturesque villages and impressive archeological sites. Located in the Urubamba Valley, the city of Ollantaytambo is an incredible archeological site and the starting point of the classic Inca Trail trek.

Days 13-16 Inca Trail/Machu Picchu/Cuzco

Winding around mountains, through valleys and up steep slopes, the iconic Inca Trail is a series of beautiful vistas and challenging hikes all the way to Machu Picchu. Built sometime in the 15th century and rediscovered in 1911, the staggering ruins of Machu Picchu were thought to be an estate for the Incan emperor, Pachacuti.

Day 17 Cuzco

A World Heritage site set among red-green hills with ruins scattered close by, Cuzco is impressive in every way - be it history, culture, nightlife or architecture.
