Tour along Western Australia's wildly beautiful coast

Australia's west coast boasts some of the world's best beaches that are relatively untouched by tourism and set against a backdrop of rugged outback terrain. This unique Perth to Broome tour brings you face-to-face with the region's natural wonders and exposes you to a rich and colourful culture. West Australia's coast and desert regions are vast, amenities sometimes sparse and isolation palpable, but the rewards are rich beyond belief (the tour code for this trip was previously PIOP).

Itinerary

Welcome to sunny Perth. If arriving early, perhaps catch a game of Aussie Rules Football, hit the shops or take a boat across to Rottnest Island. Start the trip by driving to the famous Pinnacles in Nambung National Park and explore the peculiar moon-like desert that is filled with ancient, towering rock domes. After a surreal experience, hit the road to Geraldton.
After time spent exploring rugged Kalbarri National Park and swimming in Murchison Gorge, visit breathtaking Shell Beach before journeying further up Australia's west coast towards Shark Bay.
Trek down to the beach and clap eyes on the Monkey Mia dolphins. The Stromatolites at Hamelin Pool are another must-see on the way to captivating Coral Bay.
Swim, snorkel or scuba dive in Coral Bay, an ocean sanctuary for whale sharks, dugongs, manta rays and sea turtles. At Ningaloo Marine Park, home to Western Australia's largest coral reef, strap on a snorkel to see over 200 species of coral. In the evening, take a short drive to Exmouth, the perfect location to explore beautiful Turquoise Bay and the historic Vlahming Head Lighthouse.
There's so much to enjoy here in Exmouth – and the leisurely pace in which to do it is delightful. Choose between snorkelling, diving, going on a whale shark expedition (seasonal and at own expense), visiting Vlamingh Head Lighthouse or simply lazing on the beach at Turquoise Bay.
Pass through the iron-ore town of Tom Price before reaching camp – a jaw-dropping place to spend the night. It’s then time for some real outback magic with two-days spent exploring the delights of Karijini National Park. Swim in idyllic waterholes, feel the soothing massage of ancient waterfalls and witness the beauty of an area thousands of years in the making.
Although hard to leave, it's time for the journey towards Port Hedland, where our ultimate destination for the day is Pardoo Station, a real outback treat.
The glories of Eighty Mile Beach await along the home-stretch to fabulous Broome. It's worth spending a few extra days here if there's time – hop on the Heritage Trail, hit Cable Beach or check out the latest flick at the world's oldest outdoor cinema. When it comes to things to do in Broome, the choices are endless.
