Have the world at your feet while at the North Pole
If there’s one place you can really feel on top of the world, the North Pole is it. Few people ever have the surreal experience of seeing the world from its northernmost point. This is one trip with a distinct goal, and the feeling of accomplishing such a rare feat is a huge rush. Witness slow-moving ice, silent, white landscapes and marvel at the heroism of those who came before you. It’s a tough voyage, but your transport is well equipped for the mission – 50 Years of Victory is the most powerful icebreaker ship in the world. Be awed as the mighty vessel crushes through ice three m thick, paving your way through the most northern reaches of the Arctic Ocean. And when it’s time to head back home, wind down with a visit to Franz Joseph Land, where a bounty of wildlife and striking natural scenery awaits.

North Pole - Voyage to the top of the world SummaryAdd to Shortlist
Spend the night soaking up the vibes of Helsinki, Finland’s dynamic harbour capital.
Fly to Murmansk, Russia's most northerly city. Here you’ll get to know your ship, the world’s largest and most powerful icebreaker.
Feel the anticipation build as your vessel crushes through the ice pack of the Arctic Ocean. A helicopter flight above the ship gives incredible views of the vast, icy scenery below. The voyage to the North Pole can take anywhere from five to eight days, so take some time to bond with your shipmates, pass the hours with a drink or two at the bar or take a dip in the ship’s lap pool.
Few words can describe the rush one feels after finally reaching 90° north. This is it – the very top of the world, the one place on earth where every direction is south. Enjoy every second of the experience, in whatever way you choose. Take some time to reflect, or share the exhilaration with your fellow explorers. Celebrate with a champagne toast and a festive barbecue on the ice. Perhaps top off the occasion with an extra flourish and take a hot air balloon ride for a whole new perspective.
As heart rates start slowing back to normal and the euphoria of the North Pole settles into an incredible memory, sit back and relax on the journey further south. Binoculars in hand, look out for polar bears hunting for seals along the way.
Navigate an archipelago so remote that it was discovered after Antarctica. Franz Joseph Land lies entirely within the Arctic Circle and hosts a wealth of historical sites and captivating plant and animal life. Visit Cape Flora on Northbrook Island, home to buildings and ruins from three ill-fated Arctic expeditions. Explore by zodiac and helicopter to spot walrus and polar bears.
The journey continues homewards. Share photos and memories with fellow travellers, or learn even more about the North Pole and the Arctic from your expedition team.
Set foot back on solid ground in Murmansk and return by charter flight to Helsinki, where you can enjoy one final night with new-found friends.
After breakfast, it’s time to part ways. Perhaps spend some time exploring the Art Nouveau buildings and rugged coastlines of this stylish and welcoming city.
