Settle in to Soldeu, a quaint village located in the small country of Andorra. Wedged between France and Spain, this tiny nation spans only 25 km by 30 km and is surrounded by rugged mountains. Unpack your bags and explore this charming town that sits on the southern slopes of the Pyrenees.
After a quick drive to Port Envalira, explore the lush landscape by walking to the summit of Pic Maia for a panoramic view of the mountain range. Begin your descent and be on the look out for griffon vultures scavenging the plains for their next feed. Stop for a breather at the Siscaro lakes or jump in for a swim if weather permits. This pleasant walk will help you acclimatise to the high altitude and ready your legs for the next few days of adventure.
Today, jump on a bike and ride the Iron Route, a scenic cycling adventure through the Ordino Valley. Iron was the Andorra’s first and biggest industry; cycle past mines, mills and forges to learn more about this 17th-century craft. Later in the day, head to Col de Beixalls (1800 m) by car, and take your bike on a downhill track (8 km) before returning to Soldeu for a bit of R&R.
Put your feet up and rest or further explore this beautiful area. Choose to relax in one of Soldeu’s many rustic restaurants or perhaps try the thermal springs of La Caldea. Get active and go horse riding, quad biking, canyoning or treetop zip-lining to experience Soldeu from a different angle. Ask your friendly leader for advice about the activities on offer, or take some time-out and discover this town in your own way.
Venture to Spain for a thrilling downhill biking adventure. Drive to the edge of Andorra, then jump on your bike and pedal through some spectacular scenery. Once the cycling is done, grab a paddle, get courageous and hit the water. Whitewater rafting is one of the area’s most popular adventure sports, and whatever time of year you choose to travel, it will be exhilarating. Dry off by the fire in Andorra and get in a hearty meal before tomorrow’s exciting activities.
Head to the Porte de Puymorens valley in France for another adrenalin-filled day. This charming lake in the valley is home to exciting zip-lines, which are tailored to suit different abilities - the most challenging being a bungee like swing. Later in the day, unwind by the lake then take a short, relaxed downhill bike ride. Afterwards, be transported by car back to Soldeu for a good night’s rest.
Arguably one of the prettiest valleys in Andorra, Incles is the perfect spot for a walk through meadows of wildflowers and to view some local animals. Explore the pine forests and densely flowered gorges before reaching the striking Querol and Salamander lakes. At Cabana Sorda Lake, stop for lunch and take a refreshing dip in the waterfall. Walk or drive back to Soldeu for a final group dinner.
On the final day of the tour, rest and relax, take in a final walk or do some last minute souvenir shopping before being transferred to Toulouse. Salute.
