training

All new reservation team members receive one-on-one training with a team leader to get them started. The training phase usually spans two weeks and covers all the general processing and systems skills. Additionally, we will arrange participation in a SABRE course, and will consider any additional skills training that might be necessary (such as IT skills, for example).

As a reservations consultant you get to sell great product – its one of the best things about the job! We want you to be a real Intrepid product expert and to spread enthusiasm for our trips. So of course you need to have been on an Intrepid adventure! New reservations staff will have the opportunity to go on a training trip. There are also weekly updates and presentations on our products – usually in the form of slide shows or short movies.

One of the great things of working in the reservations department of a tour operator is that you have the direct inside line to the operations team. They are always around to provide any information and detail that you need to know about a trip, and every week a member of the res team can join the operations meeting to really get an idea of what is involved in putting together and running our trips.

benefits

Financial benefits include superannuation and performance pay. The performance bonus is calculated on the basis of achieving department goals as well as individual performance. Our reservations staff are not paid commission on individual bookings – and hence are not under pressure to achieve set quotas. And of course there are the travel benefits! Intrepid staff are eligible to a discount of 85% on Intrepid trips, as well as some great deals on airfares, travel insurance and general industry discounts. Happy travelling!!!
