The International Ecotourism Society (TIES)

The International Ecotourism Society is an international nonprofit organisation with members in more than 70 countries. This unique professional group, founded in 1990, brings together worldwide expertise from the travel industry, international and local conservation organisations, and analysts from many fields, including biology, park management, community development and environmental education. TIES diverse international network has worked to create unique low-impact travel experiences around the globe.

The mission of TIES is to make ecotourism a responsible way to travel that contributes to the conservation of natural areas and the well-being of local people. With your help, the highest standards of sustainability will become the standard practice throughout the world.

Australian Volunteers International

Australian Volunteers International (AVI) is Australia's largest and most experienced international volunteer sending agency. Every year, AVI recruit, prepare and support hundreds of Australians who volunteer to live, work and learn alongside people of other cultures in developing communities.

Since 1951, when Australia's first international volunteer, Herb Feith, departed for Indonesia, AVI have provided more than 6000 placements for Australians in Asia, the Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and in indigenous Australian communities.

In recent years Intrepid have supported 3 volunteer placements in Vietnam and 2 in Sabah, Malaysia

sustainable travel international (STI)

Founded in 2002, Sustainable Travel International (STI) is a not-for-profit organization, dedicated to providing education and outreach services that will lessen the toll that travel and tourism takes on the environment and local cultures.

Some of STIs current priorities include providing and assisting travellers and travel providers in making positive contributions to environmental conservation and socio-cultural sustainability. STI do this by developing, adopting and marketing sustainable tourism standards and practices through their programs.

By promoting responsible travel and eco tourism we can learn how to protect the cultures and environments we visit.
