Favourite travel destination and why

Namibia – animals, cultures, huge sand dunes, lots of adventure activities, all topped off with German chocolate cake.

Best travel memory

So many to choose from – probably the animals though. Playing with a baby striped Hyena at Snake Park in Arusha. How cool is that!!

Best travel tip

Always take a head torch – you may look like a dork but you’ll always be able to eat in the dark.

Favourite food experience

Swakopmund in Namibia is the best place for food. I’ve had the best calamari in the world there, as well as a schnitzel burger.

Any advice for people considering embarking on the trip of a lifetime

Feel free to make a plan but be prepared to change it if something different comes along.

Which country is next on your list to experience and why

Russia. I’ve always wanted to see it and a trip to Cuba last year just reaffirmed that desire.

I’m off to India and Nepal this weekend! Can’t wait to fly over Mt Everest, drink rum with the locals and get up close and personal, and see with my own eyes the Taj Mahal.

Best travel tips

Just do it! He who travels lightest, travels furthest. Make the most of it and have no regrets

Favourite food experience

A classic kiwi barbeque with homemade cheesecake, pavlova and fresh berries (Raspberries, blackberries & most importantly boysenberries!). Otherwise lamb Souvlaki in Santorini, Greece.

From guinea pig in Peru to reindeer in Finland, kangaroo & crocodile in Australia, snails in Malta & Gozo.... and somewhere along the line a whole frog in a blender (don’t ask)! I’ve still not managed to find anything that comes even close to Mum’s homemade cheesecake or a classic kiwi pav!

Any advice for people considering embarking on the trip of a lifetime:

Just do it! As Hans Christian Anderson puts it... “To Travel, is to live” 

Go with two open eyes, an open mind, excitement and a spirit of adventure!

Which country is next on your list to experience and why

Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda/Uganda for the obvious reasons, Sri Lanka for beautiful beaches, scenery, culture & history, it just ticks all the boxes. Montenegro & Albania – for some apparently fantastic kite surfing! Tibet, Bhutan & Nepal (I haven’t even got there yet and I already want to go back to trek in the Annapurna’s)... the list just goes on & on, and everyday I am finding new places to add. It’s a dangerous place to work, as someone has always just come back from somewhere amazing!

Tell us about you

After university I was a little lost with what to do, and decided I’d find my answer in Thailand. I managed to do this and did a clear U-turn from a Criminal Justice degree to a future in travel! I’ve never looked back, and continue to love the various trips I get to go on – fully immersing myself in different cultures and traditions wherever I go.

Favourite travel destination and why

Too many to choose from! New Orleans for the cocktails and jazz on Bourbon Street ... Melbourne for the chilled-out vibe and cobbled streets ... Railay (Thailand) for a relaxing break ... Hanoi for hustle and bustle ... and South Island NZ for absolutely stunning scenery!

There are too many to list ... Motorbiking down the coast in Vietnam, staying in a traditional ‘Hogan’ in Monument Valley USA, snorkelling the Great Barrier Reef, hiking up to see the monastery at Petra, floating in the Dead Sea and staying with traditional hill tribe families in Thailand. 
 

Best travel tips

For hot countries, take a single duvet cover instead of a sleeping bag – lighter to carry, cooler and you can just get in! 
 

Favourite food experience

Any kind of street food in Asia ... freshly grilled prawns at the side of the road with a ‘Saigon’ beer is unbeatable. 
 

Any advice for people considering embarking on the trip of a lifetime

Stop thinking, start doing. Give me a call! 
 

Which country is next on your list to experience and why

Peru – heading there next month as I’ve not yet touched South American soil and it needs to be done. Can’t wait for the views from Machu Picchu!

I love Travelling, it’s my passion and my life and I want to see as much of the world as possible. Every trip opens your eyes to something new, whether it be haggling over a purchase in the local market, trying the local culinary delights, or going above and beyond your comfort zone.

I just came back from living in Australia for 4 years and on the way I took at 2 months trip visiting China, Korea, Turkey and Greece.
 

Best travel memory

It’s hard to choose between climbing a Volcano in Indonesia to watch the sunrise, cycling around the temples of Angkor Wat, learning to Surf in Byron Bay, swimming in the calcium pools of Pamukale or just lying on a beach in Jamaica drinking cocktails!
 

Best travel tips

Always have some tissues ot wipes on you, you’ll never know when you need them!

 

Favourite food experience

I’ve done cooking classes in most of the countries I’ve been too and love trying all the new food. My favourites have to be curry in Thailand, Vietnamese rolls, baklava in Istanbul, crispy duck in China or jerk chicken in Jamaica. If you wanted something different the bamboo worms in Laos were a surprise!
 

Any advice for people considering embarking on the trip of a lifetime

Enjoy every minute, and embrace every new experience that comes your way!
