Tell us about you
Hiking the Dogon Desert in Mali, washing an elephant in Nepal, making snow angels in Canada, mud hiking in the Netherlands, celebrating Diwali in India and hearing "she'll be coming round the mountain" at a Croatian wedding have made my travel memories my most treasured possession! The world is such an amazing place and if I'm not on an adventure then I want to help you plan yours.
Most recent adventure
When I first started working with Intrepid My Adventure Store, I developed a fascination with Borneo - it offered everything a traveller could want! Highest peak in Sout- East Asia, one of only two places in the world where orangutans roam in the wild, proboscis monkeys, world's largest flower, snorkelling, Turtle Island, fireflies, jungle tree houses, tribal villages... and I finally got to explore it in May!
Best travel memory
My first and best travel experience was four weeks in North West Africa when I was 15. Desert hiking, sleeping in airports, hand washing clothes, market bargaining, using charades to have conversations with locals – I was mesmerised! Arriving back home. My life changed, my understanding of the world grew and I was engulfed with the idea of spending all my time travelling.
Which country is next on your list to experience and why
Mongolia! To me it is the final frontier. I plan to spend three weeks there next July/August during the annual Naadam Festival. Horse riding, dinosaur fossicking, sleeping in ger tents and just being surrounded by the vast openness of this obscure country.

Tell us about you
Every time I speak to someone my bucket list gets longer and longer! My new goal is to cross off at least one place every year, and last year I was lucky enough to cross off four.
Favourite travel destination and why
I don’t like to play favourites, but if I had to choose one destination I would have to say Italy for the food, wine, history and beautiful old villages with beautiful old Nonnas.
How many countries have you visited?
I think I am up to just over 30 countries so far. I've done loads of Europe as I lived there for a few years. Also Egypt, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Fiji, New Zealand, Belize, Peru, Bolivia and the USA.
Most recent adventure
My most recent trip I went to the USA, Belize, Peru and Bolivia. Belize was a huge highlight because I love fishing, diving and snorkelling. And the Ica Trail was more amazing than I could have ever expected.
Best travel memory
I spent New Years in Scotland one year and as we headed north we went for a short hike. We came across a small river that had frozen over. Being curious I put my foot on it to see how strong it was - surprisingly quite strong, so before long we were all out playing on this frozen river. Of course there is always one to push it to far - he broke the ice and fell into waste deep freezing water. I have never laughed so hard!
Best travel tips
Once you think you have finished packing look again and take out half of what you think you will need. Nothing worse than carrying a heavy bag full of things you have yet to use.
Favourite food experience
Travel is all about the food for me! A cooking class that I did in Southern Spain was probably my favourite experience though - after eating a large helping of the most amazing paella and having a class of Rioja I wondered down to the beach to have a siesta under a tree. What a feeling of satisfaction.
Diving in the Red Sea in Egypt the captain threw in a line and pulled up a huge tuna for lunch. Having sashimi that fresh is mind blowing.
Any advice for people considering embarking on the trip of a lifetime
Take each days as it comes and embrace the unexpected. Things don’t always go exactly to plan but don’t let little things ruin your amazing trip.
Which country is next on your list to experience and why
Next on my list is Nepal – I can’t wait to get into the mountains for some trekking, get to know some of the locals at a farm stay and then go looking for the Bengal Tiger and Asian Rhino at Chitwan National Park.

Originally born in country NSW I have always had a love of the natural environment and travel. Whether it’s camping, hiking or exploring an unknown city I love to become immersed in new cultures. I have a keen interest in sustainable travel and environmental protection and have been lucky enough to spend time studying in Vienna. I love the excitement of leaving for an adventure and not knowing what’s in store!
Favourite travel destination and why
Petra, Jordan. It definitely should be on everyone’s bucket list! The beautiful rose sandstone city is on an epic proportion and it really does make you feel like you’re on your own Indiana Jones Adventure!
How many countries have you visited?
50+, its hard to keep track!
Most recent adventure
I spent the majority of 2012 travelling around our amazing country Australia. In particular I loved the beautiful scenery while working on the Tuna farms in Strahan Tasmania, assisting with whale research on the Dampier Peninsular North of Broome and discovering the diversity and beauty of the ecosystems in far North Queensland.
Best travel memory
Fishing of the cliffs of the beautiful West Coast of Ireland. There’s something about Ireland which is just magical! I love the stunning, lush green tones of the landscape and feeling like you’ve stepped back in time.
Best travel tips
Don’t be afraid to try new things and talk to the locals! It’s also important to take advantage of opportunities which may arise even if they aren’t what you planned!
Favourite food experience
Sampling the delicious coffee and Baklava in Istanbul!
Any advice for people considering embarking on the trip of a lifetime
Just do it and don’t hesitate.
My favourite quote would be, "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do" (Mark Twain)
Which country is next on your list to experience and why
I love Alpine environments and hiking and therefore Nepal is definitely on my to-do list! Everest Base Camp seems like a suitable challenge!
