For ten years travellers have been making a difference through The Intrepid Foundation with more than $3 million going to community organisations around the world.

It started with a $200,000 donation from Intrepid's founders and since then, The Foundation has been assisting organisations in the areas of healthcare, education, human rights, child welfare, sustainable development, and environmental and wildlife protection.

Supporting projects in more than 20 countries including Peru, Tanzania, Nepal, Vietnam, Kenya and Timor-Leste, The Intrepid Foundation allows our network of travellers to give back to the communities that they visit during Intrepid trips.

Geoff Manchester, the co-founder and Managing Director of Intrepid comments, "Over the years our passengers and staff have proven to be generous-spirited people who not only have a desire to travel but also a passion for helping communities flourish. This is reflected in the millions of dollars the foundation has raised over the years and the positive feedback we receive from passengers who visit community projects when travelling with us".

One such community project that is flourishing is Kenya's New Hope Children's Centre, located in the outskirts of Nairobi. Providing education, care, food and clothing to orphaned and vulnerable children, the locally-run centre currently houses more than 130 children and relies solely on donations to remain viable. The Intrepid Foundation is a long time supporter of this centre and most recently provided funding to assist in expanding the school's farm, which provides nourishing food for the children and allows the centre to have a degree of self sustainability.  

The Intrepid Foundation is an independent charitable foundation, but Intrepid Travel matches all contributions* and pays administration costs so that 100% of each donation reaches good causes. More than eight in ten donors surveyed by Intrepid said this was the biggest influence on their decision to donate.
